COLUMBUS (WCMH) – NBC4 WCMH has named Monica Day co-anchor of NBC4 Today. Monica will co-anchor the newscast with Matt Barnes.

Monica joined NBC4 in February 2006 as NBC4’s traffic and entertainment reporter. While in that role, Monica has rappelled buildings in Downtown Columbus (twice), interviewed both Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno, and spent many “Red, White & BOOM!” nights reporting from Chopper 4. In January, Monica shifted her responsibilities to become co-anchor of NBC4 Today Weekend with Harrison Hove.
Off air, Monica takes every opportunity to be involved with local charities and events. She is passionate about her involvement with Ovarian Cancer Alliance, North Market and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“We’ve always felt very lucky to have Monica as part of our team, “said Ken Freedman, NBC4 vice president and general manager. “Earlier this year, we moved Monica from traffic to the anchor desk to give her the opportunity to develop in that role. In this short time, Monica has certainly demonstrated her ability as well as her connection to Central Ohio viewers.” Day was recently recognized as “Favorite TV Personality” in 614 Magazine’s ColumBest poll.

“We took a good look, and believe the best position for Monica is in the Monday thru Friday morning anchor seat.”
Katie Ferrell, NBC4’s current morning anchor, will shift to take the helm of weekend evening news desk replacing Candice Lee when Lee departs next month.
“We are pleased to have someone with Katie’s strength lead our weekends,” Freedman continued. “This new line-up gives Central Ohio and NBC4 viewers strong newscasts every day of the week.”
