COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The suspect accused of shooting six people, two of whom have died, was issued an enormous bond in court Thursday.
Bruce Reginald Foster III, 28, facing an aggravated murder charge out of Licking County Court of Common Pleas, was issued a $20 million bond at an arraignment hearing Thursday afternoon.
Foster was arrested in Columbus’ University District, just south of the Ohio State campus, about 12 hours after he allegedly shot six people, at the KCD/One facility in New Albany. Police are still investigating a motive to the shooting and say Foster is not being fully cooperative.
Both victims who died were identified on Thursday. The Licking County Coroner’s Office identified the victim found dead at the facility as Kyle Vaver, 38, of Pickerington. The Franklin County coroner said Shakhar Chapagai, 30, was pronounced dead at 10:33 p.m. Wednesday at a Columbus hospital.
The Biswakarma Society of America, a non-profit supporting the Nepalese community in Columbus, issued the following statement on Chapagai’s death:
“Our community is deeply saddened by the recent tragedy, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We are working to support them during this difficult time, including raising funds through a GoFundMe campaign created by the victim’s family: https://gofund.me/fd1b2652. This kind of violence is rare in our community, and it has understandably created fear, especially for those working hard to provide for their families. It raises the serious question of safety and security for everyone. While we haven’t yet established specific programs to address this particular issue, our community feels a strong responsibility to raise awareness about violence prevention and support each other. We are also part of a larger community in Ohio focused on conflict resolution and de-escalation training, particularly in workplace settings, as we believe these skills are essential for building a safer and more peaceful society. We are committed to helping our community heal and working towards a future where such tragedies are prevented.”

The shooting took place late Tuesday at the warehouse, in an industrial section of New Albany that falls in Licking County, with six people struck. The accused shooter, an employee, had been working for several hours before opening fire and then left in a rideshare vehicle, authorities said.
The motive remains unknown. Police said there was no unusual behavior or altercation. About 150 people were inside the warehouse at the time, with some not knowing about the shooting until police arrived because of the regular noise level there.
The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team stated that Foster refused to exit the residence, prompting the SWAT unit to enter the residence by force and use a taser to subdue him.
Foster was initially charged with one count of aggravated murder. He appeared in court Thursday with assigned council. Foster said he did not resist arrest, but was told not to discuss the case.
The condition of the other victims remains unknown.
