HEATH, Ohio (WCMH) — A man is dead after a small plane crashed in Licking County Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2005 Cessna Skylane flew out of Newark Heath Airport at approximately 1:37 p.m. when it crashed into a wooded area near 484 Linnville Road east of Route 13.
The pilot, Paul R. Brown, 74, of Zanesville, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the plane.
Zane State College posted to Facebook Tuesday about Brown’s death. Brown was President Emeritus of the school, having served as president from 2004 to 2015.
Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Brice Nihiser provided an update on the investigation:
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
