One person is dead after an early morning motorcycle crash in east Columbus. The man has been identified as Bradley Bethel, 25, of Canal Winchester, according to a press release from Columbus Division of Police (CPD).

According to dispatchers with the CPD, officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Livingston Avenue and Rhoads Avenue around 5:41am Sunday on the report of a vehicle accident. When officers arrived, they found a man had crashed his motorcycle, a white Kawasaki.

Witnesses stated that the Motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed while approaching the intersection of Rhoades Ave. and E. Livingston Ave. At this time, Mr. Bethel ran the stop sign at Rhoades Ave. and E. Livingston Ave., hit the concrete curb on the north side of E. Livingston Ave. and then collided with the building at 1808 E. Livingston Ave, say police.

Columbus Police say the victim was pronounced dead at 5:49am. This is the City’s 52nd traffic related fatality this year. This crash remains under investigation.

The intersection of East Livingston Avenue and Rhoads Avenue was closed while the crash was under investigation. Drivers were advised to use an alternate route.
