An Athens County man is in life-threatening condition after he was struck by a vehicle during a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Tad T. Albano, 47, of Albany was attempting to cross West Carpenter Street in Athens around 2:30am when he was struck by a vehicle. Witnesses told investigators that a pickup truck was traveling west on Carpenter Street when it struck Albano. The pickup truck fled the scene.

Albano was taken to O’Bleness Memorial hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Witnesses described the pickup as an early 2000s model Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a red cab and bed and a black tailgate. Witnesses also said the truck looked rusted and beat up.
