Pelotonia high-rollers bring in big money for cancer research

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Since it started in 2009, Pelotonia has raised over 118 million dollars.

It’s an incredible effort by thousands of volunteers and riders each year. Some simply donate to the cause, others raise enough to qualify to ride and a special few are considered high-rollers.

One group of friends, three from team Huntington and three from the L Brands Peloton, have already exceeded their high-roller goal. They call themselves One Goal Six.

“We are each high-rollers and that means that we are each committing to $5000 and with the event we reach our goal so $30,000 total,” said Team Huntington’s Yianni Vitellas,

Not only did the riders raise money by asking friends and family, they also hosted a fundraiser at Axis Nightclub. The event brought in more than $17,000.

“We are involved in so many things in the community, Pelotonia was just one of those that we had not been approached about,” said Sam Schisler, Chief Marketing Officer at Axis. “With one goal six we kind of created this huge awareness that other LGBT people who could get involved, ride their bike for an awesome cause that’s very dear to so many of us.”

In fact it was so much of an impact on Schisler that he went from helping to raise money to joining the ride. So now one goal six is really one goal seven!
