Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck on Interstate 70 in southeast Columbus early Sunday morning.

According to Columbus Police, Jahlil Woodie was walking east along the center median of I-70 west near South James road around 4:21am when he was struck by the left side of a vehicle driven by Curtis Canty.

Woodie was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

This is the 50th traffic-related fatality in Columbus this year. Investigators say alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
