COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person was killed Wednesday night in a shooting on the southeast side of Columbus.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 10:47pm, Wednesday, officers were called to the 2100 block of Alum Creek Drive on the report of a person shot in a vehicle.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Des’Juan Shyhem Johnson, 20, on the side of the road suffering from a gunshot wound. Johnson was transported to Grant Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Police say Johnson was in a vehicle with Cameron Ricolee Simpsons, 18, when they were fired upon by individuals using an assault rifle and handguns. Simpson attempted to flee the area when Johnson was fatally injured. Simpson was not injured in the shooting.
Police continue to investigate and say there are no suspects or motive at this time. This is the city’s 133 homicide.
