Columbus Police have identified a man shot and killed in south Linden Thursday afternoon.

According to Columbus Police, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Indigo Way just after 1:30pm Thursday on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Jordan Lamont Carper, 25, lying on the sidewalk at the intersection of Indigo Way and Brooks Avenue.

Carper was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead around 1:55pm.

Police say the victim and suspect apparently knew each other, and had exited a vehicle described as a light-colored SUV, possibly a Kia. Police say the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect, a black male wearing a dark shirt and shorts, fled northeast after the shooting. Police are still searching for him and say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
