Columbus Police have arrested a registered sex offender accused of groping an underage boy at ComFest.

It happened around 10pm Saturday in Goodale Park. According to police, the boy, 11, was attending ComFest with his family when Todd Gavorcik, 36, walked by the boy and allegedly grabbed the boy’s groin with an outstretched hand.

Gavorcik took off running when the victim’s sister screamed, and the victim’s parents and Columbus officers working special duty at the festival pursued him. Police say a bystander saw what was happening and tackled Gavorcik, holding him until police officers were able to apprehend him.

Gavorcik was arrested and charged with one count of gross sexual imposition. He will be arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court on Monday at 9am.

Gavorcik was previously convicted of gross sexual imposition, attempted gross sexual imposition and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material in 2008.
