SUNBURY, Ohio (WCMH) – A Sunbury home with a tropical-themed basement was recently featured by the social media entity Zillow Gone Wild.

The social media sensation dedicated to sharing unconventional homes posted the 4,872-square-foot residence, located in the 1500 block of Lovinston Way, earlier this month.

The Sunbury home’s basement transports visitors to the beach, with Zillow Gone Wild likening it to “Margaritaville.” The basement features extensive tropical paintings spanning the ceiling and walls, as well as a thatch-covered tiki bar.

“The fully finished basement is an entertainer’s dream, complete with a custom tiki bar and cinema room as well as perfect for hosting guests or unwinding in style,” the listing reads.

The basement stands out from the rest of the home, which features a blend of luxury and modern design, complete with an open-concept floor plan, according to the Zillow listing. The house, which has six bedrooms and five bathrooms, was listed for $1.2 million in late February by Kari Heidl-Teske with Red One Realty.

Zillow Gone Wild started as an Instagram account created by Samir Mezreahi, a former BuzzFeed social media director, in late 2020. The Instagram account has since amassed over one million followers, and the concept has spread to Facebook, TikTok, and X, as well as an HGTV television show by the same name. While the Sunbury home was featured on Zillow Gone Wild’s social media, it has not been featured on the TV show, which currently has one season.

Zillow Gone Wild is not affiliated with Zillow; however, the real estate listing website licensed its name for the series.
