COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The man accused of killing a woman and burning her body in Upper Arlington has been charged with murder.
A Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted Mohamed Abdigafar Abdullahi, 27, on eight counts in connection to the murder of Bobbie Renee Simpson, 23.
Simpsons body was found burning the morning of October 14 at Burbank Park in Upper Arlington.
“DNA evidence from the victim’s hand was taken to BCI and days later, BCI notified authorities of a CODIS hit belonging to Abdullahi,” said Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien. “Not only did this man murder this young woman, but he also set her body on fire in a park in Upper Arlington in order to avoid detection for the crimes he had committed.”
O’Brien says Abdullahi was arrested at about 2am October 22 by Upper Arlington police on OVI charges.
Abdullahi has been indicted for one count of Aggravated Murder, two counts of Murder, one count of Tampering with Evidence, one count of Arson, one count of Gross Abuse of a Corpse, and two counts of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse or a Combination of Them.
Abdullahi is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 2 at 1:30pm
