Organizations giving families a leg up with shoe, other donations

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One local organization giving kids in need brand new shoes, for free.

The Real Situations organization will be giving away 500 pairs of shoes, as well as bunk beds, diapers, and more, every Thursday through Aug. 8. It is part of the organization’s teen summer prevention basketball program, which provides a safe space for middle and high school students to pursue their dreams.

Antonio Gordon, the marketing director, said he has a duty to help these children and plans to do so in the future.

“We want to reach as many kids as possible. We know we won’t be able to reach all of them, but us being able to reach as many as we can is our ultimate goal,” Gordon said.

Gordon understands what these kids go through daily and knows exactly what they need. The work this organization does is fueled by a passion to help, encourage, and ignite confidence in one’s self.

“There’s thousands of kids without and when you were once one of these children, it’s easy to know, you know, what they need,” Gordon said. “ it’s easier to help when you were once them. Because you know what you would have wanted and needed in their stages

The organization will also be giving a car away to one lucky high school graduate from the class of 2024 on Thursday.
