More than 300 Bon-Ton Stores employees in central Ohio will be without a job in early June.

According to a letter from The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. to the Ohio Office of Workforce Development, the Bon-Ton Fulfillment Center in West Jefferson is expected to close its doors on June 5. The fulfillment center employs 330 workers. The Elder-Beerman store on State Route 725 in Dayton is also expected to close on June 5, leaving 122 employees without a job.

The letter states the closures are “expected to be permanent.”

The move comes after The Bon-Ton Stores filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February. The letter says the company “has been actively engaged in efforts to reorganize the business or sell the business.”

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. owns Elder-Beerman, Herbergers, Younkers, Bon-Ton, Bergners, Boston Store, and Carson Pirie Scott.
