Towns in rural central Ohio suffer power outages

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Cities and towns in the rural areas of central Ohio suffered power outages more than Columbus as a result of a winter storm that began Thursday, according to the AEP power outages map.

As crews worked to recover power during the evening, the number of people without power in these communities varied.

Hocking County is the hardest hit with outages as of 9 a.m., Friday with AEP reporting more than 7,000 customer outages there and South Central Power reporting nearly 5,000.

AEP keeps an up-to-date map of reported outages, showing expected times for power to resume.
