Two men are hospitalized after a serious crash in Marion County.
It happened around 2:55am Saturday at the intersection of Owens Road and Dunbar Road in Pleasant Township. According to the Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lance Fisher, 33, of Marion, was riding a Honda dirt bike west on Owens Road when he stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. Fisher was rear-ended by a Honda 3-wheeler, operated by Nathan Fleming, 32, of Marion, at the intersection.
Both Fisher and Fleming were taken to Marion General Hospital for treatment of their injuries, and Fisher was later transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
The state patrol says Fisher’s dirt bike did not have adequate lighting before the crash and that Fleming failed to maintain an assured clear distance. Investigators say neither rider was using a helmet. They also believe alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
