COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — An Amber Alert issued Friday for a missing infant was canceled after two hours.

Whitehall police said the missing 1-year-old boy and the suspect in the case, who was his mother, were both recovered safely, with the mother being arrested.

Police said the mother did not have custody of the child when she left with him from a supervised visit. The abduction was reported by Buckeye Ranch, a mental health and child welfare services organization based near the intersection of East Main Street and Hamilton Road.

“We are aware that she has some mental health issues, enough that she was required to have supervised visits with Buckeye Ranch and that they had custody, which means that somebody in that decision making chain was concerned about the child’s safety and took the child from the mother,” Whitehall Police Chief Mike Crispen said.

The two were then last seen in a rideshare vehicle in Columbus’ South Linden neighborhood. They were found in an apartment along Columbus’ Cleveland Avenue, police said.

It was not immediately known whether the mother would face charges.
