Lockdown lifted at Westerville South High School

WESTERVILLE, OH (WCMH) – Westerville South High School was under a lockdown Thursday morning after a report of a possible threat.

According to the district, a student thought he saw a person wearing a vest covered in ammunition in the school. That student told other students and rumors spread.

Administrators called police, who asked that the school go under lockdown.

It was determined after about 20 minutes that the vest in question was a weighted vest being used for a physics experiment. There was no ammunition on the vest.

The lockdown was lifted shortly after 8:30 a.m.
