COLUMBUS (WCMH)– The Columbus Division of Police SWAT team was called out to 386 South Huron Ave for a male suspect barricaded in a house. According to police, the stand-off began at about 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police said the suspect, 23 year old Malcolm X. Lewis, had multiple warrants out for his arrest, including aggravated menacing, domestic violence threats, assault, domestic violence, and two traffic violations.
According to police, Lewis’s live-in girlfriend was in the house during the stand-off.
At about 6 a.m. police officers detained Lewis without incident, and safely secured the woman. She was taken to police headquarters for questioning.
There was a sleepover happening at nearby Westgate Elementary School. Police contacted the school and had everyone shelter in place as a precaution.
