WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, OH (WCMH)–A Fayette County man was arrested Friday evening and charged with several counts of drug trafficking following the execution of a search warrant at his residence.

Detectives from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force served the search warrant around 5:50 p.m. at a home East Street in Washington Court House.
According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, detectives continued their investigation Friday evening with the execution of the search warrant following a lengthy investigation of criminal activity over several months. Detectives detained several subjects at the home during the search warrant execution but only two were charged. The resident, 62 year-old Kenneth E. Payton was arrested and charged with the following:
- Trafficking in Drugs (Oxycodone), a felony of the third degree
- Trafficking in Drugs (Cocaine), a felony of the fourth degree
- Trafficking in Drugs (Alprazolam), a felony of the fifth degree
- Trafficking in Drugs (Marijuana), a felony of the third degree

Donald O. Hayner, 62, of Washington Court House was issued a summons for possession of marijuana at the scene and released. Others subjects at the Payton residence that were detained during the execution of the warrant were released at the scene by detectives.
During the search of the home, substances presumptively identified as marijuana, cocaine, oxycodone, and alprazolam were seized in addition to numerous articles of drug paraphernalia, firearms, and a substantial amount of U.S. currency. Payton was transported to the Fayette County Jail and incarcerated, however posted bond on Saturday morning and is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the Washington Court House Municipal Court on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
Upon conclusion of the case file preparation, detectives will present the case to the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office for their review and further action.What others are clicking on:
