COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police arrested a Columbus man accused of robbing a taxi driver.
According to Columbus police, the victim parked his Yellow Taxi cab in the area of 3691 Sullivant Avenue. He was approached by a man who asked for a ride to Mount Carmel West Hospital and sat down in the back seat.
The driver asked for payment in advance, so police say the suspect then displayed a handgun.
Police say he demanded cash and the victim’s phone.
Within 24 hours of showing surveillance photo images on Facebook, the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Dennis Scalf.
Scalf was arrested on charges from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and taken to the Franklin County Jail. He is charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the cab robbery.
