CHICAGO (WCMH) — A gift from his girlfriend’s daughter brought a Chicago man to tears.

During a graduation party with family and close friends Lauren Hernandez gave her mom’s boyfriend, Joe Losco a gift that would make their father-daughter relationship official, WBBM reports.

Losco opened the box and found a framed poem inside. Underneath the poem were adoption papers to officially make Lauren his daughter.

He fell to the ground and broke into tears when he saw what he had in his hand.

Losco told WBBM that he has been in Lauren’s life since she was a baby. “I’ve wanted nothing more than to be her dad from Day One,” he said.
