COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police are investigating after a man was found with several stab wounds Thursday and later died from his injuries.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 11:29am, officers were called to an apartment on Berryleaf Grove on the report of a stabbing.

Omar B. Alston, 31, was taken to Riverside Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Police say 24-year-old David Jonathan Morrison was arrested and charged with murder. The suspect and victim were roommates, according to police. Morrison reportedly stabbed Alston “with a knife or machete” for an unknown reason.

Officers continue to investigate.
