DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) — A 47-year-old man has died after crossing several lanes of traffic and striking a concrete bridge structure.

David D. Poplar, of Dublin, was pronounced dead after the crash occurred at about 7 a.m. Saturday near milepost 16 on U.S. 23, just north of the city of Delaware.

Investigators said Poplar was driving his 2007 Audi A-4 southbound when the vehicle crossed the center lane and both northbound lanes of travel. The car continued off the east side of the road and struck the structure. Poplar was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northbound lanes of U.S. 23 were closed for about four hours between Coover Road and Main Road Saturday morning due to the crash.

A cause of the crash was not released by troopers. The crash remains under investigation.
