NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WCMH) — We always hear about the one that got away, but for one North Carolina man, it was the one that he reeled in that he’ll be talking about for years to come.
“Well, when I hooked up with him I felt like I had something really big,” Riahn Brewington told WWAY about his big fish story.
Brewington wasn’t even sure if he had a fish, or how big it was.
“I didn’t realize how big he was until I actually got my hands underneath him.”
When he pulled the catfish in and weighed it, it came in at a whopping 112 pounds; which is still five away from the state record.
“I feel pretty good about it. I wish it was a little bit bigger so I could beat it of course, but I’m happy with the catch,” said Brewington.
What did he do after the catch? He released it back into the Cape Fear River, so someone else might have a chance to catch the monster fish.
