COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther joined residents on the east side Thursday night to talk about issues in their community.

“I say all the time our top three priorities are neighborhoods, neighborhoods, neighborhoods, and no activity and event illustrates that like neighborhood pride,” said Mayor Ginther.

Multiple directors from different departments in the City of Columbus came to Leawood Elementary to help better neighborhoods on the east side.

“I was able to meet with everyone to express all my concerns with public safety and public service,” said resident Letitia Pleasant.

She and others like this idea.

“They were very attentive to hear what we had to say and even documented some of the concerns,” said Pleasant.

Resident Martha Wallace said, “I think they were listening.”

The elementary’s gymnasium was full of concerned people talking about crimes and road conditions but not everyone completely bought that this will work.

“I think it just looks good right now on paper and for the news but the jury’s (still) out,” said Kaye Patterson.

Patterson said this is the first time this city has had this roundtable discussion and wonders if it will continue.

Mayor Ginther say these departments have no choice but to follow through.

They also have two other roundtable forums scheduled for Hilltop and South Linden.
