Mosquito spraying begins Thursday in Columbus public parks

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Columbus Public Health is beginning its summer spraying schedule Thursday as part of its West Nile prevention strategy.

Weekly spraying begins on June 30, 2016-July 1, 2016 and will continue in key areas through early September, the Health Department said.

The health protection effort is part of a comprehensive West Nile prevention strategy which also includes trapping mosquitoes, investigating complaints, treating standing water, and spraying in areas with high mosquito counts and disease presence. Residents also are encouraged to eliminate standing water in their yards where mosquitoes can grow in order to reduce the need for spraying.
