Most street closures for Race for the Cure begin early Saturday

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Downtown Columbus will be flooded with people in pink on Saturday as thousands participate in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The Survivor Ceremony begins at 8 a.m. on the west plaza of City Hall. The 5K Race start time will be at 8:45 a.m., immediately followed by the 5K Walk. The Family Fun Walk will begin at 9:15 a.m.


The race will begin on Front Street, just south of Long Street. It will end on High Street, just north of the Columbus Commons.

All roads along the course will begin to close by 8:15 am on Saturday, May 14. Here are some other closures:

One hundred percent of net proceeds of Race for the Cure goes to the Susan G. Komen Mission. Seventy-five percent stays in the Columbus community to help fund local programs offering breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment.
