COLUMBUS (WCMH) — If you passed by Nationwide Children’s Hospital today you may have thought a new racing car movie was being filmed.
No movie stars here just a guy, his fast toys and some new friends.
“I live my life trying to inspire others around me,” said Shawn Cunix, Owner of Toy Barn in Dublin. “I get a massive amount of euphoria over making a difference in somebody’s life.”
Cunix enjoys putting a smile on kids’ faces and what better way to do that then with fast cars.
From Lamborghini’s to McLaren’s, Ferrari’s to porches’, his collection will make your head spin. It sure did for 16-year-old Michael Fenster.
“It’s really cool just to come out and be able to see these,” said Michael. “It was not what I was expecting.”
Michael came to the hospital Wednesday to get fitted for some new contact lenses. He didn’t expect to see his favorite car sitting outside.
Michael spent seven and a half weeks at nationwide hospital when he was born, and had his 22nd surgery last summer.
Michael’s mother, Kelly Fenster says her son knows what it’s like to spend countless days in a hospital bed — and special treats like this brighten a child’s day.
“It’s one of the most amazing things when he sees them out on the street, he pops up out of the car trying to see what kind of car it is,” said Kelly.
“To know that I can make a difference in someone’s life is very healing and for filling from my own past,” Cunix said.
