Memorial Tournament founder Jack Nicklaus told our Jerod Smalley today that he expects Tiger Woods will return to Muirfield Village Golf Club to play in this year’s Memorial Tournament (June 1-7). Woods missed the Memorial last year due to injury. He’s the only 4-time winner of the tournament.

“Saw Tiger at Augusta, had dinner with him… as much conversation as I’ve ever had with Tiger. And he said ‘See you in May… will be at the Memorial.” So it’ll be nice to have Tiger back.” Nicklaus said today during the Legends Luncheon fundraising event at Ohio State.

Nicklaus also says Masters champion Jordan Spieth expects to play at Muirfield just as he did last year.

Bubba Watson, 2014 Memorial champ Hideki Matsuyama, Dustin Johnson have officially committed to the tournament. Phil Mickelson told reporters at the Masters he plans on playing in Dublin this year.

Nicklaus says the only change to the golf course for this year is the removal of several bunkers on the 18th hole which were no longer a factor in play.
