DENVER, CO (KUSA) — Six Denver, Colorado sheriff’s deputies will not be charged in the death of a jail inmate.

On Thursday Denver’s district attorney announced he would not file criminal charges in the death of Michael Marshall.

Marshall died following a confrontation with deputies inside the Denver jail.

Jailhouse video shows the incident in which deputies tried to restrain Marshall.

A medical examiner’s report states Marshall’s “cause of death was determined to be complications of positional asphyxia, to include aspiration pneumonia, due to being physically restrained by law enforcement during an acute psychotic episode.”
