PARK LAYNE, OH (WCMH/WDTN) –The National Weather Service has confirmed three separate tornadoes touched down in Clark and Miami Counties Wednesday night.

One caused damage in Park Layne and moved into southeast Miami County. NWS says that was as an EF1 tornado. A second tornado, this one also an EF1, caused damage approximately five miles southeast of Piqua.

NWS says the third tornado, an EF0, struck near Medway in Clark County.

The National Weather Service earlier said an EF1 tornado caused the damage in Park Layne Wednesday evening with maximum winds estimated to be at 100 miles per hour.

There were several tornado warnings for the area Wednesday night, including in Fayette and Miami counties. Damage was reported throughout the region.

In just just one of the areas damaged, the Williams family were home when they heard sirens from Wright Patterson Air Force base that alerted them to a tornado warning.

“Our phones went off saying take cover… there is no cover, so we took off,” said Alysia Williams.

That was minutes before this tree came crashing through their mobile home punching through the ceiling.

“The tree is laying all the way across my daughter’s room is right on the other side of this wall,” Williams said.

Williams said her daughter is traumatized by what happened.

“We have two small children and we wanted to make sure they were safe and out of the house,” she said.

The family next door fled too, right before a tree cut their home in half.

Just up the road, Bethel Township trustee Nancy Brown stood on her porch watching the tornado.

“It was frightening,” she said. “It was the blackest cloud I’ve ever seen, it was low, it was moving slow.”

Although no one was injured, Bethel Township firefighters rescued a Family Dollar employee trapped in the store.
