COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A man was hospitalized early Saturday morning after exchanging gunfire with Columbus police.
It happened shortly after 2:30am Saturday outside an apartment building on the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue in Columbus.
Police initially responded to a report of two armed men firing shots in the neighborhood.
When police arrived, one of the suspects immediately ran from the area, according to police. Officers chased him through the complex.
Investigators said the man fired multiple shots at officers as he ran. One officer returned fire.
When police took the man into custody, they found he had an injury to his leg. He was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
The officers were not injured.
Police recovered a gun from the scene.
A second man was detained and released by police. He was identified, but has not been charged with a crime at this point in the investigation.What others are clicking on:
