Ohio bailiff appears to attack teen suspect in court

WILMINGTON, OH (WCMH) — A court bailiff is under investigation after video shows him grabbing a teenage defendant from behind before dragging him out of an Ohio courtroom.

Courtroom video from Clinton County Juvenile Court, obtained by WHIO-TV, shows the bailiff first get into the teen’s face. He then grabs the teen by the arm to pull him out of his chair.

The bailiff then appears to apply a choke hold to the teen, who is shackled, tipping the teen’s chair back. The chair falls, and the bailiff begins dragging the teen out of the courtroom.

“The kid sat down why he still did the choke hold,” Jamie Shattuck saw the video on Facebook. She doesn’t see anything here that justifies the way the bailiff manhandled the teen out of the courtroom, “You’re not supposed to touch anyone until he tries to do something to you.”

Clinton County authorities decided to call in the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to probe whether the bailiff should face charges. All evidence gathered will be reviewed by special prosecutors from the attorney general’s office.

The bailiff’s name has not been released, WWLP-TV reports. The Ohio attorney general’s office would not comment on his current job status. What others are clicking on:
