CAMPBELL, OH (WKBN) – An unexpected road worker was out Thursday in Campbell helping to patch up potholes. Mayor Nick Phillips said he wanted to get out from behind his desk and help with the work.

The city is experiencing financial troubles, and Phillips said bringing on more manpower is difficult.

“This is why I ran. I am for the city. I am for the employees. That is why I am out here today. People say this is a political stunt, but this is what I do. This is who I am,” Phillips said.

A few of the roads the mayor and crews worked on were Oxford and Regent Streets.

Phillips said he will continue to fill other potholes as needed around the city.What others are clicking on:
