GEAUGA CO., OH (WCMH)–An Ohio State Highway Patrol sergeant is recovering after being hit by a car on Friday.

Sergeant Jim Smith with the Chardon Post was reportedly making a traffic stop on U.S. 322 when a car crashed into his cruiser and also hit him, the Patrol said on Facebook.

Cleveland.com reports Smith was thrown into the air and landed on the at-fault car.

The Patrol said Smith is “doing well” and added that the at-fault driver was not injured. The driver in the original traffic stop has non-life threatening injuries.
