CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OH (WCMH) — A woman is face felony charges under Goddard’s Law after deputies say she left three kittens locked up in a hot car Friday morning.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, an anonymous caller reported three kittens were locked inside a white colored, Kia Spectra parked at St. Gabriel Church in Concord Township. The outside temperature at the time was 82 degrees.
Officers arrived and found all the windows were up, the vehicle was locked and the passenger side was directly exposed to sunlight. There were three small kittens in a cage exposted to the sunlight.
Officers say the kittens appeared to be suffering seizures as they were foaming at the mouth and twitching uncontrollably.
Deputies then used tools to force entry to the vehicle and provide aid to the kittens. They used cold water bottles to help cool the kitten’s body temperatures.
The kittens were then transported to Lake Animal Hospital in Painesville Township for medical treatment. Two of the three kittens are expected to recover. One remains in critical condition. All three kittens were severely dehydrated and flea infested.READ MORE: Ohio law makes it a felony to abuse companion animals
