FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — One man has died after a tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 71 south of Grove City. As of 1:00pm Wednesday afternoon, all lanes are back open.
The crash happened early Wednesday morning between State Route 56 and U.S. Route 62 near the Franklin and Pickaway County line.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a 2013 Freightliner 18-wheeler truck was traveling northbound on I-71 south of Harrisburg-Georgesville Road, when it went off the left side of the roadway, into the median, back onto the roadway where it overturned.
Another 18-wheeler was also driving northbound on I-71 and failed to stop in time and struck the overturned Freightliner’s trailer.
Video from Chopper 4 shows a semi overturned and broken apart, with its load spilled across the freeway.
The driver of the overturned Freightliner, 49-year-old Terry L. Allen, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other truck, 66-year-old Al Amburn, of Lebanon, Tennessee, was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
Deputies continue to investigate the crash, but said both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and it is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol are a factor. What others are clicking on:
