MARION, OH (WCMH) — Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a deadly crash Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said 80-year-old Edward Reiter, of Bucyrus, was killed after a two-car collision on U.S. 23 at the intersection of Linn Hipsher Road in northern Marion County.
Troopers said the crash occurred at about 1:18pm. A Honda Accord, in which Reiter was a passenger, was pulling from the center median area to cross into northbound lanes of U.S. 23 when the vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a Mazda Tribute.
Reiter was taken to Marion General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Accord, Frances M. Reiter, was taken to OSU Wexner Medical Center by medical helicopter. The driver of the Mazda and two passengers in that vehicle were taken to Marion General Hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
