DELAWARE, OH (WCMH)– The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says they are investigating a fatal crash on US-42.
The single-vehicle crash happened shortly before 3:00 am U.S. Route 42, just east of Delaware near Short Cut Road.
According to the Delaware post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, three people were in a 2006 Audi A8 when it went off the east side of the road. The car struck a traffic sign, a tree and a fence before coming to a stop.
The driver, Scott Michael Wilson, 37, of Delaware, and a passenger, Joshua D. Blevins, 36, of Delaware were critically injured and taken by medical helicopter to OSU’s Wexner Medical Center.
Another passenger, Charles R. Whipkey. 37, of Columbus was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said safety belts were not in use by the occupants of the car. Alcohol or drug use is suspected.
The crash remains under investigation.
