LICKING COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious crash that happened Monday afternoon in Licking County.
It happened around 12:40pm on the 2400 block of Johnstown-Utica Road NW, U.S. Route 62.
The driver of a 2005 Honda Civic, was traveling eastbound on US 62 when it drove left of center and was struck by a semi tractor trailer in the westbound lane.
After the two vehicles collided, the semi trailer then struck and eastbound 2013 Dodge Journey before traveling off the road.
The female driver of the Dodge, Rosanne Parkinson of Utica, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband and passenger of the SUV, John Parkinson, was airlifted to OSU hospital with serious injuries
The 17-year-old driver of the Honda was transported to Grant hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
James Crowl of Mount Vernon, the driver of the semi trailer tractor was treated at the scene.
Neighbors who heard the crash say it sounded like an explosion. They say accidents happen along this road all the time.
“This one has probably been the worst,” said Sheila Houck. “I just think it needs to be patrolled maybe better than what it is now.”Keep checking NBC4i.com for real-time updates on this story.
