COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Columbus Police say two people were transported to the hospital after a car and SUV were involved in a fatal car crash late Sunday night.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 11:29pm, a 49-year-old man was driving a Dodge Durango and entered I-70 eastbound from Alum Creek when he was struck by a Chevrolet Camaro being driven by Antoine Briggs, 31.

Police say Briggs was driving the Camaro on I-70 eastbound when he entered the Alum Creek off-ramp, struck a guardrail, crossed over the lane and into the grass infield where it vaulted into the driver side of the Durango.

The unidentified 49-year-old man was taken to Grant Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

According to police, Briggs was also taken to Grant with non-life threatening injuries, and was processed for OVI.

Police have not identified the victim pending notification of next of kin, and say charges are pending against Briggs.

The crash remains under investigation.
