SALEM, OR (WMCH) – An Oregon teenager may have saved his father from a drugged intruder by fighting him off with some unusual weapons.

Jesus Ceja, 14, says his father confronted the intruder, 25-year-old Mario Vega-Navarro, after Vega-Navarro broke into the residence.

“My dad gave him several warnings that he could leave without any problems and stuff,” Ceja told KATU. “As soon as that happened, he started getting mad, clinched his fists and hit my dad.”

Ceja saw a power grinder and a case of beer close by.

“I just grabbed the beer packs and start smashing them on his head … I grabbed this [power grinder] and went bang, bang, bang.”

Ceja says he hit Vega-Navarro with the power grinder several times as Vega-Navarro continued to make threats and slashed his father’s eyes.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says Vega-Navarro tried to bite off Ceja and his father’s fingers. Ceja was able to show the bite marks. Deputies believe that Vega-Navarro may have been high on bath salts and say he had to be sedated before being transported to the hospital.

“Now I carry a bat in my room,” Ceja said. “Just in case!”
