OSHP investigating Licking County fatal crash

JOHNSTOWN, OH (WCMH) — A fatal vehicle crash in Licking County closes a major roadway for hours this morning.

One driver died and two others in a vehicle hit head-on were taken to St. Ann’s hospital with minor injuries.

State route 62 east and west is back open after a fatal vehicle crash a mile outside of Johnstown.

Highway patrol Lt. Kevin Miller of the Granville Post said the impact of the two vehicle crash sent a 2002 Jeep Liberty onto its side and crushed in the front of a 2006 Chevy Aveo killing the driver. The highway patrol is investigating the accident saying the Chevy’s driver went left of center crashing into the Jeep. No one involved the accident has been identified until next of kin have been notified.

Lt. Miller says State route 62 though Licking and Franklin Counties is a dangerous stretch of road.

“62 continues to be a problem area for us in Licking County, we have continued to increase patrols and have troopers out, but unfortunately we see another fatal crash out here,” Lt. Miller says.

SR 62 is a 55-mph zone  in the area and when the patrol stops vehicles for violations Miller says troopers are reminding drivers to watch their speed and be aware of their surroundings.
