COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Fans celebrated across the city after the Buckeyes beat that Team Up North Saturday afternoon.

Moments after the win in double overtime, fans crowded parking lots and streets near campus.

Teddy Helton drove from Cuyahoga Falls to watch the game.

“I’m 44 years old, I’m a Browns fan, so I’m used to being let down,” Helton said. “But the Buckeyes didn’t let me down.”

Bars and shops along High Street near campus were packed with people celebrating the Buckeyes’ victory.

Columbus Police said they had just a few minor reports of issues Saturday night, but for the most part, things remained calm during the celebrations.

A few fans of the Team Up North, such as Ben Brinkerhoff, walked away disappointed.

“Good game, good game, but Go Blue!” Brinkerhoff said.

Meanwhile, fans like Teddy Helton planned an evening of celebration.

“A few beers, a little Uber cause we’re not gonna drink and drive, get something to eat and we’re gonna party here in Columbus,” Helton said.

Some fans analyzed the game while others celebrated.

“We’re going to talk about this for decades,” said OSU alumnus Devon Bisaccia. “They played their hearts out. I don’t know if they’re ready for a national championship. I think they’re very young.”

“Really, what it comes down to is we’ve got to trust the OSU offense,” Nick Murmane said. “And we got it done. We’re going to keep getting it done until we get that ring again.”
