COLUMBUS (WCMH) – The southbound lanes of State Route 315 were shut down overnight near Henderson Road after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on the freeway.

It happened around 2:30am in the southbound lanes of 315 south of the Henderson Road exit ramp.

One person was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Southbound traffic was diverted off the freeway at the Bethel Road ramp for nearly two hours. The freeway reopened around 4:20am.Keep checking NBC4i.com for real-time updates on this story.
