Pedestrian struck on State Route 161 suffers life-threatening injuries

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man is fighting for his life after being struck Tuesday night while attempting to cross State Route 161 in northeast Columbus.

Columbus police say a 62-year-old man was attempting to cross State Route 161 near the Interstate 71 interchange outside of a crosswalk. At the same time, a 2018 For Fusion was traveling eastbound and struck the man in the roadway.


The man was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old man, was not injured.

Columbus police’s Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene, and the investigation continues.
