Pelotonia ride starts this weekend

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The largest grassroots cycling fundraiser in the country gets underway this weekend.

Cyclists participating in Pelotonia 2016 gathered at Columbus Commons Friday evening to check in their bikes, share a meal and hear inspiring stories about cancer research.

Approximately eight thousand cyclists will ride Saturday and some on Sunday throughout Central Ohio with one goal, to end cancer.

Pelotonia donates 100% of every rider-raised a dollar directly to the Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Caroline Phillips-Stevens has done the ride all seven years and is riding again this year.

“Everybody’s affected by cancer and so I’m just riding for you know humanity , basically the whole community to try to beat this disease,” said Phillips-Stevens.
