NORTH LEWISBURG, OH (WDTN) – A person from Triad Elementary School in Champaign County has been diagnosed with active Tuberculosis.
That’s according to a letter posted on the district’s website.
The district was notified by the Champaign Health District of the diagnosis.
The letter states that there is an increased likelihood that students and staff in Preschool through second grade may have had contact. Health officials say the infected person is no longer in school.
Champaign Health District staff will be on site May 17th and 18th to provide free skin tests to students. Parents can join their children as they are tested.
Tuberculosis bacteria usually attack the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. Bacteria are spread through the air from person to person when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal.What others are clicking on:
