ETNA, OH (WCMH) — The Granville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says one person is dead after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.

It happened around 4:31pm Sunday.

Troopers say 49-year-old James Altman was driving his car northbound on Tollgate Road and Donald Simpson was riding his motorcycle eastbound on US 40. Altman entered US 40 from Tollagate Road as Simpson approached the intersection.

Simpson lost control and struck Altman, coming to rest in the eastbound lane.

Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

OSP says excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
